one and half years, two artists, over 110 paper sculptures… For almost two years, Lori Goodman and Teddy Milder collaborated on collective grief-in memoriam.
In 2023, we traveled to Germany and Poland, returning just when the Israeli kidnappings and subsequent horrific Gaza war began. We reflected on the mass killings of the holocaust; genocide, war and devastation in Gaza; and atrocities occurring throughout history, including the current threats on democracy. We were simultaneously inspired to make work to mark collective grief. Our collaboration helped us to process our personal and shared grief — a means of witnessing loss and channeling sorrow into material form. We hold all who suffered and died in memoriam.
Hand Papermaking Magazine published a wonderful article on our installation in the October 2025 newsletter: HERE
Sculpture Magazine also published a very thoughtful review written by Gabrielle Gopinath: HERE
